Promise House Trust Team conducts a Christmas Outfit distribution drive to the SOS Children’s Village in Bakoteh and Sinchu Orphanage in the WCR.

Speaking during the handing over ceremony on the 24th of December 2024, at the SOS Country Office, our Founder Pa Amang Sanneh took the audience into the background of the charitable trust and what it stands to achieve in the times ahead.

The items donated to the beneficiaries include girls outfits, beverages and candies to be supplied to the wards over the festive season.

Kissu Denton-Savage, Promise House Trust’s Goodwill Ambassador in the UK, thanked the SOS Children’s Village for its great work across the globe and Promise House Trust for such great initiative.

She promised to work hand in glove with the team towards the attainment of its wider goals.

Mrs. Mama Sillah- Nasso, former teacher to the late Jainaba Sanneh-Darboe in whose memory PHT is established, spoke highly of her former student and described her as simply exemplary.

She shared stories of their cordial relationship that stood the test of time.

Mrs. Joanna King, a childhoood friend and former classmate of the late Jainaba Sanneh-Darboe spoke with emotion and described her late friend and sister as a living Saint during the time she lived.

She thanked the efforts of everyone that has contributed to the success of this great Christmas Outfit distribution drive.

SOS Children’s Village Country Representative in The Gambia, Mr. Jeanne Pierre Kouamin applauded the efforts of PHT and expressed his team’s appreciation and delight at such immeasurable gesture.

Mr. Tijan Betts, SOS Children’s Village Rep. called for a concerted effort of all and sundry in looking after the welfare of those in need.

Proceeding to the Sinchu Orphanage, the Promise House Team was accorded a warm welcome and courtesy upon arrival by the Centre Manager, Mrs. Aminata Ceesay and its founder, Sia Jongeneel.

Following exchanges of pleasantries, the Promise House team delved into the purpose of its visit with Dr. Fatoumatta Darboe having expressed the establishment’s passion for delivering to the needs of those in need.

The PHT team was then given a tour of the center and even had the chance to meet some of the children on board who were excited with Christmas preps.

The team had a photo opportunity with the respective beneficiaries at both the SOS Children’s Village and Sinchu Orphanage.

Famara Fatty Mr. Famara Fatty, Senior Programs Officer at the Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal, and Child and Adolescent Health (RMNCA) unit of the Ministry of Health in the Gambia, has said that throwing out sperm does not mean that you are throwing a Human Being. He was responding to questions during an interview with this medium on the misconception that using a condom to throw out sperm means you are throwing out babies. The interview took place recently during the review of Gambia’s Family Planning 2030 commitment paper held at a hotel in Kotu.
